China sold cotton from government reserves to fill the gap between supply and demand. It provided 1 million 100 thousand tons of cotton between September and December, and 230 thousand tons of cotton reserves on 10-31 August.

Cotton imports in the country increased by 73% to 2 million 510 thousand tons a year ago.


China's standard cotton prices climbed 29.3% in the 2009-10 cotton season, averaging 15724 yuan / ton (2347 US dollars / ton), following the growth trend of the international cotton market.


China will re sell 30-40 million tons of cotton from the national cotton reserves to meet the needs of the textile industry.


Since August 10th, China has decided to sell 600 thousand tons of state reserve cotton, and then the state will release the national reserve cotton again.


Today (27) cotton prices in the Zhengzhou Cotton Exchange reached 22000 yuan / ton, as supply and demand for yarn increased and output declined.

The cotton season has climbed 28% since the government began auctioning the national reserve cotton in August 10th.
