For example, on the eve of children's day in 2012, the Beijing Consumers Association has announced the results of the comparison of 63 children and infant clothing sold on the market. There are 21 kinds of sampling checks for children's clothing, but a "Naughty Dog" casual sleeve is found to decompose aromatic amine dyes. Guangzhou Quality Supervision Bureau in May this year conducted a spot check on the quality of children's and infant clothing products, and sampled 72 batches of products from 37 enterprises.

The test results showed that 10 batches of 8 enterprises failed to meet the standard requirements.

Among them, the "blue eyed BLUE-EYE GENIUS" round T-shirt produced by Yongqi Garments Co., Ltd. of Guangzhou was found to contain a decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amine dye. A 4 code skirt produced by Dongguan Tianling Clothing Co., Ltd. in March 2012, was found to contain a decomposable aromatic amine dye.

Spot checks showed that the pass rate of products was 87%.

"little bear B Qi BearBest" short sleeved single T, Guangzhou Xinchuang Industrial Co., Ltd., "proud pat /AOPAILAI" children's short sleeved shirts were detected with decomposable aromatic amine dyes.

Decomposable aromatic amine dyes are dyes that can be synthesized from carcinogenic aromatic amines, commonly known as banned azo dyes.

Azo dyes are the most common kinds of synthetic dyes. Many direct dyes, acid dyes, disperse dyes, reactive dyes and cationic dyes are azo dyes.

Azo dyes have a wide range of chromatography, including red, orange, yellow, blue, purple, black, and so on.

Therefore, it is widely used in dyeing and printing of many natural and synthetic fibers, and also for coloring paints, plastics, rubber and so on.

For textile safety indicators, decomposing aromatic amines is more toxic and carcinogenic than formaldehyde.

Why is it widely used?

Why are dyes that are so harmful to be widely used by textile and garment manufacturers in textiles, clothing, leather products and household fabrics? They are mainly based on two reasons: price and source.

Most of the green dyestuffs used to replace the decomposable aromatic amine dyes are imported and the price is 3~4 times higher. This price is undoubtedly a big expense for the small and medium-sized textile and garment manufacturers.

Azo dyes are easy to produce, low in price, full in color, strong in coloring, bright in color, and high in color fastness. Compared with environmental dyes, manufacturers are more willing to choose azo dyes.

In addition, the complexity of the test steps to prohibit azo dyes is also one of the reasons.

According to the standard, the examination of banned azo dyes can be divided into two steps: pretreatment and instrumental analysis.

In the elimination of decomposable aromatic amine dyes, relevant departments have made recommendations: first, the enterprises concerned should promptly understand and track the technical standards at home and abroad, so as to have a clear idea; second, prohibit decomposable aromatic amines.

In terms of textile requirements, garment enterprises should work closely with the printing and dyeing and auxiliaries industry to limit the use of decomposable aromatic amine dyes at the source. Third, the printing and dyeing manufacturers must choose environmentally friendly auxiliaries, and all the auxiliaries that have been processed before processing must be strictly checked. At the same time, garment manufacturers also need to inspect and control the fabrics purchased to prevent the quality problems of products due to the prohibition of excessive decomposition of aromatic amine dyes.

In order to prohibit the decomposition of aromatic amine dyes, in addition to relying on the improvement of laws and regulations and the strict supervision of relevant departments, we should also emphasize the integrity of the industry and the integrity of enterprises.

In 2006, China formally implemented the first mandatory safety standard for textile products, the national basic safety technical specification for textile products. For the first time, the requirements of textile safety and ecological environment were put forward in the form of national mandatory standards for the first time. The toxic and harmful substances, such as decomposable aromatic amine dyes and other carcinogenic substances, were included in the monitoring area, and the production, sale and import of textile products containing decomposable aromatic amine dyes were prohibited.

It is understood that China's new version of "national textile products basic safety technical specifications" officially implemented in August 1st this year.

The new standard pays more attention to the safety of textile products, and puts forward higher requirements for the production of textile and garment enterprises. Health and environmental protection become the general trend of the textile and garment industry.
