The US market research and consulting firm Technavio recently released a report on the global mattress market. It is estimated that the global mattress market will grow by US $12 billion 690 million between 2019 and 2023, with an average annual compound growth rate of 7%, of which 45% comes from the Asia Pacific region. Technavio predicts that the global mattress market will grow by 6.81% in 2019.

Technavio pointed out that at present, there are several major suppliers in the global mattress market, forming a scattered market with many small suppliers.

Take the US market as an example. The Internet bedding brand Casper Sleep Inc., which was just listed on Nasdaq, was founded in 1898. The American mattress production and authorization brand King Koil Licensing Co. Inc. (Jin Keer) and the American handmade Mattress Firm Kingsdown Inc. (Jens), founded in 1904, are representative market participants.

From the analysis of mattress types, spring mattresses are being used more and more because of the low price. Huge demand has prompted suppliers to develop innovative spring mattresses. But the growth rate of spring mattress will be lower than that of latex mattress.

From the sales channel analysis, in the global mattress Market in 2018, offline channels occupy a large share, and this trend is expected to continue in the forecast period. One of the advantages of offline distribution channels is that terminal consumers can get advice from professional salesmen.

Market analysis shows that over 45% of market growth will come from the Asia Pacific region between 2019 and 2023. China and India are the main mattress markets in the Asia Pacific region, and their growth will be faster than those in other regions. The urban population of developing countries such as China and India is growing rapidly, and the migration of population to urban areas has increased the demand for mattresses. Technavio pointed out that suppliers in the Asia Pacific region are increasing their market share through acquisitions, and some suppliers have expanded their retail businesses by adding more stores.

From 2019 to 2023, the growth of the global mattress market will be mainly due to the growing popularity of environmental mattresses and the growing demand for customized mattresses. But the problem of product recall, counterfeiting mattress problems and the stricter regulations of the government on the production of environmental mattress may hinder the growth of the industry.

At present, mattress suppliers focus on producing anti allergy and no side effects mattresses made of non-toxic materials, and strive to minimize the impact of mattress production on the environment. These environmentally-friendly mattresses are made of natural and organic materials, such as organic cotton, organic wool, natural latex and other organic materials. The performance advantage of environmental mattress promotes the purchase amount of business and individual consumers, such as longer service life, and organic wool mattress helps regulate sleep temperature.

Meanwhile, mattress suppliers are taking customized services as an important strategy to meet consumers' needs for uniqueness and comfort. Because of the hardware problems such as room type, some consumer mattresses do not meet the standard size. Other consumers, for reasons such as back pain, require mattress to provide additional support. Various online platforms provide convenience for customized mattress services. Technavio said that the demand for such customized mattresses is expected to push the growth of the mattress market as a whole.

Technavio suggests that in the face of huge growth opportunities, suppliers should pay more attention to the prospects of fast growing areas while maintaining the status of slow growth.
