On the 22 day, APEC leaders issued a statement on the global economy in Lima, Peru, against all forms of protectionism, and promised to work closely together to take further comprehensive and coordinated actions to deal with the current international financial crisis.

The leaders said that we fully support the broad policy initiatives that must be taken to restore global economic stability and growth: closer macroeconomic cooperation, support for emerging and developing economies, comprehensive reform and strengthening of international financial institutions, and increasing the voice and representation of emerging and developing economies.
